A WORLD PREMIERE SOLO COMEDY!
April 24—May 17, 2026
The Phoebe & Otto Premiere Series
She Gets Around
Written and Performed by Jennifer Childs
Jen Childs is cleaning out her closet in this new multi-character solo comedy, and every outfit tells a story. Combining personal narrative with outrageous characters, She Gets Around looks at a collection of "bad girls" and "good girls" that Childs has been or has tried to be - onstage and off. From a 7-year-old who talks like Elaine Stritch and blames the patriarchy for being put in “time out”, to an angry party clown, to a parade of pioneering famous female comics, these characters guide Childs towards determining whether, moving forward, she needs to be more Doris Day or more Talullah Bankhead. Directed by longtime collaborator Harriet Power, Childs will jump from character to character in each performance in an order that the audience decides. She says “I feel like right now we’re all trying to make sense of a world that is increasingly more confusing. Our story never gets told the way we think it will – and the audience choosing in what order they experience this collection of stories is part of that – but the story gets told nonetheless and in new and surprising ways.”
