The Women and Comedy Project

Women and Comedy Project is the latest piece in development by 1812 Productions. Over the next two years 1812 Artistic Director Jennifer Childs, in collaboration with movement/clown expert Emmanuelle Delpech, musician Monica Stephenson and an ensemble of ferocious and hilarious women will develop this piece which will premiere as a part of the 2012-2013 season.

Through storytelling, clowning, music and movement, The Women and Comedy Project will explore and celebrate how different women use comedy in their lives and how their use of humor changes as they age.

In addition to workshops with performers, the Project’s development year will include 75-100 interviews with women (non-performers) in the Philadelphia area about the role of humor in their lives and comedy workshops for the general public.

If you are interested in being involved or finding out more about this project, you can follow its development at www.womenandcomedyproject.blogspot.com or you can e-mail Jennifer Childs at jen@1812productions.org
