LET’S PRETEND WE’RE MARRIED
Created and performed by Jennifer Childs and Tony Braithwaite
A cabaret that combines comedy and song to celebrate friendship and marriage. Let’s Pretend We’re Married features original material and classic cuts from Burns and Allen to the Bickersons and songs of love by everyone from Irving Berlin to Prince. As a finale real couples from the audience renew their vows onstage.
Act II Playhouse January 11-22, 2012
Montgomery Theatre July 15-23, 2010
1812 Productions February 2-14, 2010
May 26-June 14, 2009
“An evening of 100 percent unadulterated charm. You’d think that by now, a new revue surveying the institution of marriage would be used up before anyone sang a note. Along come Jennifer Childs and Tony Braithwaite with a show so fresh and so free of cliché that it’s a revelation.” – Philadelphia Inquirer
THIS IS THE WEEK THAT IS
Conceived by Jennifer Childs
Our annual political humor show combines sketches and musical numbers with news that is rewritten nightly to keep up with current events. The result is a smart evening of satire best described as The Carol Burnett Show meets The Daily Show. We have produced a new version of This Is the Week That Is every year since 2006 and it is our most popular offering each season.
The full stage version of each year’s new This Is the Week That Is is available for touring after its initial run at 1812. We also offer abbreviated versions of the show for private events. Please contact Jennifer Childs at jen@1812productions.org for more information.
CHERRY BOMB
Book and Lyrics by Jennifer Childs, Music by James Sugg
A musical burlesque extravaganza that tells the true story of the Cherry Sisters, the worst act ever to grace the vaudeville stage. From the corn fields of Iowa to the bright lights of New York, the Cherry Sisters sang off-key to packed houses, dodged tomatoes during curtain calls and were the worst good time to be had in early twentieth century America.
1812 Productions December 11, 2008-January 4, 2009
“The show’s enormous triumph is that it’s wildly funny, surprisingly moving and never mean-spirited.” – Variety
